FT: Chelsea 3-0 (10) Rennes!! All over at Stamford Bridge and it was easy for the Blues. Werner scored two penalties in the first half which Dalbert gave away. Once Dalbert was sent off after the second pen, there was no way back for the French side. Abraham got on the scoresheet after 51 minutes and then Chelsea just kept the ball. Rennes had a late consolation disallowed for offside, but they were well beaten.

Giroud!!! Hudson-Odoi sends a cross for Giroud at the far post and his header across the GK goes wide.

Lovely move by Chelsea with plenty of passes, but nothing comes of it.

Del Castillo is cautioned for a foul.

Rennes attack and Doku is caught offside.

Gomis!! A terrible mistake by Rennes at the back sees Ziyech play in Giroud and the Frenchman's weak effort is easily stopped by the GK. I think VAR may have taken away the goal for offside.

Zouma makes a good clearance from Trouffert's cross after being set up nicely by Del Castillo.

Half chance for Rennes, but Zouma is down injured after Bourigeoud catches the Chelsea man in an uncomfortable area!

HT: Chelsea 2-0 (10) Rennes!!! Half-time in London and Chelsea lead thanks to two penalties scored by Werner. Dalbert fouled Werner after 10 minutes and then conceded a second after a handball call. He saw yellow in both incidents and Dalbert was sent off. Rennes had picked up a bit after the first goal, but the red card and 2nd pen has killed them. Back for more in a bit!

Chelsea are passing the ball around for fun now.

Chelsea are in control, but the handball rule will be in the spotlight again. The penalty call seems enough punishment without the need for a yellow card, in my opinion, but the ref had his hands tied.

Rennes have got little chance of getting back into this one now. Two goals down and a man down.

Werner scores after firing into the roof of the net! Gomis had no chance.

Rennes are fuming at Dalbert getting a second yellow, but the decision is right. However, the law is very harsh. Surely a yellow shouldn't be given in those circumstances? The ref isn't at fault here.

Penalty to Chelsea!!! It's a second yellow and he's off! Dalbert gives away two pens and he's off.

The ref is going to the monitor and if he gives a pen, Dalbert could get a second yellow.

VAR are checking for a possible pen for Chelsea for handball. Dalbert's hand is up and he's in trouble. It's unlucky as it hit his foot first, but his arm was up.

Seems to be a bit of argument between N'Zonzi and Mount and the ref has to come in and calm them down.

Rennes really need to get something from this game, but without Camavinga, this is going to be difficult.

Werner scores!!! Just about! Gomis goes the right way (to his right), the ball is not in the corner and he GK gets a hand to it, but he can't keep it out. 1-0 to the Blues!

Dalbert sees yellow as well.

Penalty to Chelsea!!! Dalbert catches Werner with his trailing leg and Zwayer has no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Clear pen.

Ziyech!! The Chelsea man controls and then volleys over the goal! The ball touched the top of the net.

Bourigeoud's corner goes across the face of the box, play continues and then Rennes claim a penalty for handball by Zouma after a Rennes header. Not given though and it's a fair call.

Rennes are 3rd in the French league and beat Brest 2-1 at the weekend. They make two changes: Del Castillo and Doku are out, Gboho and Bourigeoud are in.

Havertz has tested positive for coronavirus and is out of this one. Jorginho replaces him and that is Chelsea's only change from the 0-3 win at Burnley.
