Before you know it, the hot summer days will fade away and fall will be upon us. And you have to admit: Whether you live in a climate that experiences true colorful foliage or you're graced with year-round sun (looking at you, Los Angeles), there's something magical about autumn (beyond the yummy cider smells, themed Halloween parties, and seasonal home decor).

Along with longer days and—in some locales—cooler temps, the months of September, October, and November usher in an influx of fun fall activities, with most aimed at celebrating the harvest of that region. From cranberries in Wisconsin, to apples in Georgia, to Oysters in Massachusetts, we rounded up some of the best fall harvest festivals across the country that kids and the whole family will love.

It's not all pumpkins and hayrides, though—we threw in a few speciality events (tacos, anyone?) for good measure. Because at the end of the day, you really can't have too many options—especially after a year in which your calendar saw little-to-no activity.

So why not make up for lost time and head to one of 2021's best fall festivals? As long as you're vaccinated (or masked, if not), the CDC says it's safe to attend these types of outdoor events. Below, a list of festivals worth a spot on your calendar before it starts to book up again.
